I want to thank Richard + Ann for choosing The Silly Shutter to be a part of their wedding. Everything turned out beautiful and I'm glad I was able to be a part of it. This is only a slight preview of the pictures from the wedding. The rest of the pics will be in a password protected gallery under the "My Silly Shutter (Events)" link. If you wish to see the whole gallery you may contact Richard & Ann for the password :). Enjoy

ENGAGEMENT: Giovanni + Berta
I met up with Giovanni and Berta in Costa Mesa 2 weeks ago for a quick engagement session. It was my first time doing an Eshoot and we were very limited on time, but I still had a lot of fun with them. Click the link "Read More" to see some of the pics.

Engagement Sessions? Sure, Why Not?
I recently thought it would be a fun idea to start shooting something a little different than what I am used to.
First off, here's a little background. Before I started The Silly Shutter (photo booth) I was mostly shooting concerts and sports. It was great. I got to shoot some amazing shows with bands I really like and also got to watch some pretty cool athletic events while shooting for the Daily 49er at Long Beach State University. I thought I would never want shoot anything else... And then I got engaged... I started wedding planning and came across many different ideas out there that I thought were awesome and fun. Weddings were a whole new world for me and in some weird way, I really liked it... And basically, that's how The Silly Shutter was born.
But now to my point, haha. I feel like The Silly Shutter is not enough. I think it would be fun to be involved with the wedding process a little bit more. So I decided to try out a quick engagement session with my friends Giovanni + Berta just to see what it was about. I thought it would be cool to spend an hour or two with engaged couples who are going through the same wedding planning process that I'm going through... I was right,.. I had a lot of fun with Giovanni + Berta and even though we were in a race against time (sunlight) that we pretty much lost, we still managed to get some fun, cool shots.
If you like my style and would like to try out an engagement session or a "love date" session, contact me and lets see what we can create.

New Image Gallery Viewer
Today I took another step in the right direction with The Silly Shutter. Gone are the days where I relied on Facebook to post image galleries from Silly Shutter events. I didn't like that Facebook limited the amount of photos I could upload to each gallery and it just didn't have the right feel for me overall.
That's why I made the upgrade to SmugMug. Not only do they allow me to post unlimited photos to each event gallery (if I need to), but I will also have the option to password protect individual galleries for those of you who prefer it. I understand that some people don't want strangers browsing through all their photos and hey, that's perfectly fine. That's why I thought it would be great to provide that option. Plus, the new SmugMug galleries site will be integrated into TheSillyShutter.com as well so you don't miss a beat.
And don't worry, all you social media gurus out there will still be able to seamlessly "like", share, and tweet photos directly from the gallery and download them as well. The possibilities are endless. Well, not really. But there are definitely a lot of options. I hope you enjoy them all!

New Ideas Are Always Welcome
Thats right... New ideas are always welcome. The Silly Shutter will generally use a plain white seamless paper background for the booth because white tends to be generic, simple, safe, and tends to always give an end result that I like. However, that does not mean that you are limited to just that. If you have something else in mind that you want to try out, let me know. Outdoor weddings seem to allow the greatest flexibility for creativity, but it doesn't stop there. Whether you want to bring your own background or prefer not to have a background at all, thats okay. Or maybe you want to set up an elaborate photo booth set.. That's okay as well. I am willing and excited to try new ideas. I know there are a ton of different ways set up a photo booth/area. Lets create something fun!

I See The Light..
I'm very excited that I finally received my AB400 from Paul C. Bluff over the weekend. It may not seem like much, but what it does mean is more power! Light that is. It's definitely a slight step up from the SB-600 speed light set up I had going (which worked pretty good by the way). Only this should help a little more in those outdoor situations where access to decent light may be pretty scarce. The good thing about the set up is that there will still be no need for extension cords. Portable power is the way to go, in my opinion, and I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind not having cables running across the floor. I haven't had much time to work with the new AB400, but I did play around with it for half an hour or so and I just have to say I'm excited to try it out on location... If you guys know anybody who is getting married soon or having a quinceanera, sweet 16, retirement party, etc. let them know about The Silly Shutter.. The prices are pretty reasonable since I'm still in the process of getting things in order. :).. Take care guys and thanks for your support.

Starting Off The New Year Right....
So 2012 is officially in full force now and I have to say its been a productive 11 days for The Silly Shutter. I've been taking care of a lot of behind the scenes things that you guys may not notice, but will make my workflow much more enjoyable and efficient. I'm also excited to say that I will be adding a bunch a fun new props to the mix.
With that in mind, I will be ready to take on some parties in the coming weeks and hope to jump into weddings real soon. That will be my main focus for 2012. If you know someone who is getting married this summer and may be interested in an affordable last minute source of entertainment please let them know about The Silly Shutter. In the meantime, I will keep trying to make this service as fresh, fun, and friendly as I can. Thanks for stopping by!
Robert
